WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) will be holding Town Halls in both Carrollton and Brookfield on Wednesday, August 14th. The Carrollton event will be held at the Rupe Center, while the Brookfield event will occur at the Brickhouse Bar and Grill.
Graves will talk about issues that Congress has dealt with this session including jobs and the economy, government reform, and cutting spending. Graves is the Chairman of the Small Business Committee and wants to hear from small businesses and individuals how Washington's actions are affecting them.
Washington has simply gotten too big, too bloated, and too intrusive in our everyday lives. That's why this past week, the House of Representatives passed a package of bills designed to rein in excess, punish abuse, and hold bureaucrats accountable.
Among the bills approved by the House are ones to end lavish government employee conferences, allow the IRS to fire employees who engage in political targeting, and limit the size of federal employee bonuses. Many of these commonsense bills were passed unanimously.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives, with the support of Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06), today passed the Energy Consumers Relief Act (H.R. 1582). This bill requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to submit a report to Congress, for each energy-related rule pegged at $1 billion or more, detailing the impact on jobs and energy prices for American consumers, among other criteria.
House passes package of bills aimed at reining in government excess
In 2010, Nancy Pelosi said we needed to pass the president's healthcare law in order to find out what was in it. It turns out, even those who voted to pass the law are still finding out what is in it, three years later. To this day, we continue to discover new provisions which will negatively impact businesses, workers, and the overall economy.
