This week marked National Police Week, an opportunity to honor the men and women of law enforcement who have given their lives in the line of duty. It’s a stark reminder that anyone who puts on the badge may not come home at the end of their workday. Whether in large cities where crime is more prevalent or in small towns where everybody knows everybody, there is always the chance that an officer will end up losing their life doing their job.

This week, I led the House Transportation Committee in advancing legislation to enact our America First agenda to secure the border, strengthen national security, modernize our air traffic control system, and cut wasteful Green New Deal spending.

We were tasked with reducing the deficit by $10 billion in the budget reconciliation process. I’m proud to say we exceeded that while making meaningful investments in areas that desperately needed it. Frankly, it wasn’t hard to do. 

Too many times when the Postal Service is confronted with their poor service standards, their response is that they don’t have the authority or ability make changes. Frankly, that’s a cop out, but I view it as a request—change the law so we can do better. Fair enough.

It’s the reason I introduced the Pony Up Act. They don’t have a mechanism to make customers whole when they cost them money in late fees. Sometimes those fees add up to thousands of dollars when tax payments don't get to their destination on time, or sometimes at all. It’s not right.

One of the greatest honors I have serving as your Congressman is the opportunity to nominate the best and brightest young students from North Missouri to attend four of our nation's five service academies—the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. While still highly competitive, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy has a different application process.
