WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) released the following statement as the nation marks the twelfth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, tomorrow:

"This week we mark the 12-year anniversary of September 11th. Many of us remember exactly where we were on that day when we heard the terrible news. Like all Americans, I was horrified as I watched television coverage of commercial airliners being turned into missiles and flown into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in western Pennsylvania.

HANNIBAL, MO – U.S. Congressman Sam Graves will be holding a series of Town Halls tomorrow, August 29th, in Kirksville, Canton, and Hannibal.

Graves will talk about issues that Congress has dealt with this session including jobs and the economy, government reform, and cutting spending. Graves is the Chairman of the Small Business Committee and wants to hear from small businesses and individuals how Washington's actions are affecting them.

Independence, Mo. — Two legislators keenly interested in the fate of small businesses on Tuesday toured the business incubator in Independence, the Independence Ennovation Center.

"This is one of those tours that I just absolutely love," said Congressman Sam Graves, R-Tarkio, whose district includes parts of Independence.

Also on the tour was state Rep. Noel Torpey, R-Independence.

Almost exactly a year ago, officials in Wichita broke ground on a new airport terminal, a $160 million project they had sought for more than a decade.

But Wichitans won't pay the full cost. Instead, the federal government is expected to kick in $60 million, thanks in part to the city's congressional delegation.

Congressman Sam Graves came to St. Joseph on Wednesday to listen. Chairman of the House of Representatives' committee on small business, Mr. Graves held a hearing on Missouri River management meeting the needs of small business.

After hearing from four area leaders and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mr. Graves promised to introduce legislation to make flood control the priority among the corps' eight authorized purposes.
