Dear Friend,

The definition of a crime is "an illegal act or activity." Entering and staying in our country without going through the proper procedures is a crime. That's why we call it "illegal" immigration – because it isn't legal!

The events of this week are a reminder that the cost of illegal immigration continues to rise on multiple levels – even costing innocent lives.

Dear Friend,

Illegal immigrants continue to flow across the border while our border agents struggle to keep up. Drug cartels and gangs pour into our country, ripping apart families. Human traffickers use the border to grow their heinous operations.

And who's the real bad guy in all of this?

According to the far LEFT, it's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

That's right.

Somehow, liberals have decided that the men and women who are tasked with protecting our borders are the ones who need to be reined in. You can't make this stuff up!

Dear Friend,

Drought conditions across the state of Missouri continue to worsen. All across my district, folks are starting to get real nervous. There's been a rainfall here and there but not enough to make a difference.

Dear Friend,

Selecting a Supreme Court Justice is one of the most important decisions the President can make. Earlier this week, President Donald Trump announced his nominee to the Supreme Court selecting Judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace the retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy.

I said last week that it was critical that the nominee be a constitutional conservative who will uphold the rule of law and make decisions based on the direction our founders had in mind for this country. I believe that Judge Kavanaugh is a perfect example of that kind of judge.

Dear Friend,

July 4, 1776, is a day we commemorate every year for good reason - our freedoms and very existence rests on what happened that day when we signed the Declaration of Independence.

We look to that important document as a guide that indeed "all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights."

As the Declaration states, our rights come from God and are laid out in the Constitution. We pass laws in Congress to defend these rights and the Supreme Court is tasked with ensuring that these rights adhere to the Constitution.

Dear Friend,

You've seen the news stories and you probably know someone who's been affected by it in some way - the scourge of opioid addiction. Overcoming this crisis is proving to be far more difficult than anyone expected. Did you know that more than 2 million Americans will suffer from addiction to opioids in 2018? Or that 115 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids EVERY DAY?

Dear Friend,

70 years after the "end" of the Korean conflict, a historic meeting - the first in history - took place this week in Singapore.

In reality, the war never ended. However, that could soon change.

President Trump and North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-Un came together in a historic summit seeking denuclearization of the communist country.

Dear Friend,

One of my favorite things to do during my time in the district is visit the folks who make North Missouri tick. These are the manufacturers, the small business owners and the community leaders who help their communities thrive. They know exactly what Congress needs to be doing in order for them to succeed. That's why visiting with them is so important. It's not about me telling them what I think they need from Washington or what we've done. It's about me hearing what they need from Washington and then taking that back to the Capitol.

Chairman Bill Shuster and Rep. Sam Graves

Ever since the 2016 presidential campaign, addressing the nation's infrastructure needs has been at the forefront of discussions in Washington. The issue remains in the public consciousness, and the Trump administration should be credited for taking bold, concrete steps to expedite the completion of critical projects.
