Graves releases “Flood Recovery Resource Guide” to help North Missourians affected by flooding
Kansas City, MO – Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) today released the “Sixth Congressional District Flood Recovery Resource Guide” to help North Missourians affected by the devastating floods of 2019. The guide, available both online and in print, contains information and links to federal agencies and programs that can assist those who are trying to rebuild and recover.
“This year’s flooding destroyed homes, businesses, farms and communities. There are a lot of resources available out there to folks trying to recover and rebuild. I want to make sure people know what help is available and how to access that help,” Graves said.
“My office is always available to answer any questions that may arise during the recovery process or for those who need help dealing with a federal agency.”
The guide can be found online at graves.house.gov/floodresources.
Printed versions of the guide can also be requested by calling Graves’ Kansas City District Office at (816) 792-3976, St. Joseph District Office at (816) 749-0800, or Hannibal District Office at (573) 221-3400.
To help deal with this year’s record flooding, Graves supported the disaster relief package that passed last month. He also introduced legislation to prioritize flood control on the Missouri River. Additionally, Graves passed an amendment to help the Corps of Engineers study the recent flooding on both the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers in an effort to develop flood control plans. Finally, Graves recently introduced the “Resilient Communities Act of 2019” (H.R. 3531), to allow the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide Missouri and other states resources to set up a fund for mitigation projects that reduce disaster risks.
