Like all Americans, I was horrified as I watched television coverage of commercial airliners being turned into missiles and flown into the World Trade Center.
WASHINGTON— House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) today issued the following statement after the President's address to a joint session of Congress:

Like all Americans, I was horrified as I watched television coverage of commercial airliners being turned into missiles and flown into the World Trade Center.
A rumor quickly spread that a plane was headed toward the Capitol, and we evacuated as quickly as we could. I ended up back in the Capitol later that night answering constituent phone calls and trying to make sense of what little information was available.
WASHINGTON, DC— House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) today issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor reported that no jobs were created in August and the unemployment rate held at 9.1 percent.
"With unemployment at or above nine percent for 26 consecutive months and zero jobs created in August, it should be more obvious than ever to the Obama administration that we are on the wrong path. It is certainly clear to the 14 million Americans who have been handed a pink slip and have been out of work for months on end.
Last Tuesday, the White House unveiled its plan to reduce and reform federal regulations. After the President's promise in the State of the Union to ‘merge, consolidate and reorganize the federal government in a way that best serves the goal of a more competitive America,' I was optimistic that his plan would provide real relief to businesses that are crumbling under the weight of overregulation. I was hopeful the administration had heard the pleas of American business owners and was willing to confront the out-of-control regulatory environment.
One of the things I hear from people and businesses as I travel the district is how hard it is to keep up with the dizzying regulations that are being produced by the Washington bureaucracy. Whether it's the Environmental Protection Agency or one of the other federal agencies, it seems that Washington comes up with a new regulation every day.

Graves will talk about issues that Congress has dealt with this session including the budget, Missouri River and job growth plans for this fall. Graves is the Chairman of the Small Business Committee and wants to hear from small businesses how Washington's actions are affecting them.

Graves will talk about issues that Congress has dealt with this session including the budget, Missouri River and job growth plans for this fall. Graves is the Chairman of the Small Business Committee and wants to hear from small businesses how Washington's actions are affecting them.

(Washington) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves announced that he has organized meetings between federal officials and constituents who have been affected by this summer's flood.
The meetings will involve representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Small Business Administration (SBA), the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Transportation.
