WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives, with the support of Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06), today passed the Energy Consumers Relief Act (H.R. 1582). This bill requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to submit a report to Congress, for each energy-related rule pegged at $1 billion or more, detailing the impact on jobs and energy prices for American consumers, among other criteria.

House passes package of bills aimed at reining in government excess

WASHINGTON, D.C.– This evening, Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) helped pass legislation through the U.S. House of Representatives to delay both the individual mandate and the employer mandate contained in the Affordable Care Act. Specifically, the Authority for Mandate Delay Act (H.R. 2667) would delay the employer mandate for one year, while the Fairness for American Families Act (H.R. 2668) would delay the individual mandate for the same timeframe. Congressman Graves was a cosponsor of both pieces of legislation.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– The House Small Business Committee, led by Chairman Sam Graves (MO-06), today held a hearing examining the methods the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) uses to audit small businesses.

Acting IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel testified. The purpose of the hearing was to identify how the agency selects and classifies the tax returns of small businesses, in light of revelations that the IRS used inappropriate criteria to unfairly target certain groups.
