Sam Graves Takes Action to Protect American Workers from the President’s Healthcare Law

January 8, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Sam Graves released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 30, the Save American Workers Act, which would restore the traditional 40-hour definition of "full-time employment" as it relates to the employer mandate under Obamacare. H.R 30 is identical to legislation passed by the House last year that was never taken up by the Democrat-controlled Senate.

"Once again, the American people are faced with the negative effects of Obamacare," said Rep. Graves. "And once again, the House has taken action to end it," he continued. "I am proud to have voted to repeal the 30-hour definition of full-time work under Obamacare. This provision has made it more difficult for small businesses to hire full-time employees, resulting in fewer hours for countless Americans. Now is the time to let small businesses focus on creating jobs so people can get back to work, not saddling them with more bureaucratic red-tape."

"I am glad that we now have a working partner in the U.S. Senate and fully expect them to take up this legislation and send it to the President's desk. President Obama should retract his veto threat and join with us in providing much needed relief to small businesses and all hard working Americans."
