Sam Graves Statement on the Announcement of a Major Disaster Declaration for Missouri

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Sam Graves released the following statement on the announcement of a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Missouri. The Declaration was requested by Rep. Graves and others for the citizens of Missouri that were affected by severe storms including tornadoes and flooding in September.

"Following the September storms that affected many of our fellow Missourians, I sent a letter to President Obama urging him to issue a federal major disaster declaration for these areas," Rep. Graves said. "These storms destroyed homes, businesses, and vital infrastructure. The devastation left in its wake is still being dealt with by the residents that live there," he continued.

"I am glad to report that the Major Disaster Declaration has been made, which will allow for necessary federal dollars to be used in rebuilding our communities."
