Sam Graves Responds to President Obama's National Address on ISIS

December 7, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Sam Graves spoke today in response to President Obama's National Address on combating ISIS. Graves is a member of the House Committee on Armed Services.

"ISIS has not been contained," Rep. Graves said. "In the absence of America's leadership, ISIS has been able to extend its influence across the globe, as we've seen play out tragically in San Bernardino, Paris, and elsewhere. Last night, the President gave us more of the same tired talking points. What we need is a new strategy to destroy ISIS that will keep America – and our allies – safe.

"My colleagues and I on the Armed Services committee recently offered suggestions to increase protections against the threat of foreign fighter travel and to combat homegrown extremism," Graves continued. "I will push to see the White House adopt these and other important policies in our fight to defeat radical Islamic terrorism. Failure is simply not an option."
