Sam Graves Named Chairman For The Subcommittee On Highways And Transit
WASHINGTON – Representative Sam Graves issued the below statement following the announcement that he was named to serve as the Chairman for the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit.
"I am honored to have the support of Chairman Shuster and my colleagues on the committee to serve as Chairman for the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit," said Rep. Graves. "As a representative for the people of north Missouri, a state with more than 130,000 highway miles and over 24,000 bridges to maintain, I fully appreciate the importance of having a long-term transportation policy," he continued.
"This Congress, we have a tremendous opportunity to secure a long-term Highway Bill that will improve and rebuild our nation's highway system, increase the efficiency and expedite the approval process on new projects, and create thousands of jobs. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the committee, as well as stakeholders, in tackling the many pressing challenges we will face in the coming congress."
Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster said, "I am pleased to announce that Sam Graves will be serving as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit in the 114th Congress. Sam is an experienced Member of the Transportation committee and a natural leader. His tenure as Chairman of the Small Business Committee, where he led the fight to streamline programs serving small businesses and reduce burdensome regulations, will be vital in implementing our policy goals." he continued.
"We have many important issues to address next year, in particular the reauthorization of the Highway Bill. Sam is a great fit to chair this subcommittee. I know him to be a fair and honest broker and have no doubt that he will carefully consider the input and opinions of his colleagues and all stakeholders as we work to address our nation's infrastructure needs."
