Graves Statement on President Obama's Planned Cap-and-Trade Mandate
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Sam Graves (MO-06), House Small Business Committee Chairman, released the following statement after President Obama announced that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will seek a mandate on new carbon emissions standards for existing coal plants:
"In North Missouri, I hear stories about how government bureaucrats are becoming increasingly aggressive in attacking our way of life. Whether it is regulating farm dust, the dry ditches in our backyards, or the home heating business, this Administration continues to wreak havoc on small businesses and the middle class. Our region benefits greatly from coal-generated electricity, the cheapest and most readily available form of American energy. What we are witnessing is an out of control government and an Administration that will stop at nothing to achieve its ideological agenda. The Executive Branch needs to be more accountable to the people."
