Graves Statement on the 12th Anniversary of the September 11th Attacks
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) released the following statement as the nation marks the twelfth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, tomorrow:
"This week we mark the 12-year anniversary of September 11th. Many of us remember exactly where we were on that day when we heard the terrible news. Like all Americans, I was horrified as I watched television coverage of commercial airliners being turned into missiles and flown into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in western Pennsylvania.
"We must always keep alive the memory of those we lost, and recall the heroic acts of valor that occurred that day, as firefighters and office workers, police officers and tourists, all worked together to save lives and comfort a nation. We can never fully repay those who sprang into action, putting their own lives at risk. And we can never adequately thank the servicemen and women who, in the years that followed, have fought to protect and defend our freedoms and keep us safe. What we can do is honor these good and decent men and women by always remembering their sacrifices, and never forgetting what happened on that crisp September morning."
