Graves Measure to Preserve 6-Day Delivery Garners Majority Support in the House
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Sam Graves issued the following statement after his resolution to preserve six-day mail delivery reached 218 cosponsors in the House of Representatives. Rep. Graves and Democrat Gerry Connolly (VA-11) introduced H.Res. 12 on January 6.
"There are millions of Americans whose lifeline to the outside world is the Postal Service," said Rep. Graves. "Unfortunately, some people in Washington refuse to acknowledge just how important it still is to rural communities. USPS will need to make changes to remain viable going forward, but eliminating a core service like six-day delivery is simply not the answer."
"I am proud to see a majority of the House back this resolution, and I am confident the Postal Service is done with its push to eliminate Saturday delivery," Rep. Graves continued.
Recent statements from USPS have confirmed the agency is no longer pursuing five-day delivery as a "key tenet" of its reform agenda.
