Receives Award for his Support of American Business

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Graves was today honored by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) for his work in Congress supporting American business. Graves is the inaugural recipient of the GBTA Navigator Award, created to honor Senators and Representatives who have been strong champions for business travelers and the business travel industry.

"GBTA is pleased to recognize Representative Graves as a champion of business travel," said Michael W. McCormick, GBTA Executive Director and COO. "GBTA especially appreciates his efforts to put an end to discriminatory taxes on rental cars, which often put an undue burden on business travelers and rarely are reinvested in the travel industry."

GBTA is a business travel association with over 8,000 members, managing more than $345 billion of global business travel and meeting expenditures each year.

"We're forced to pay taxes for just about everything we need in our lives," Rep. Graves said. "The least we can expect in return is that our money is invested somewhere meaningful. But when American travelers are asked to fund local projects that have no benefit or relevance to them, it deters growth and hurts businesses across the country. I'm humbled to be recognized by the Global Business Travel Association, and look forward to continue working with my colleagues to promote policies that help businesses and encourage travel."

This is the first time the GBTA has given out its Navigator Award, and only 11 Senators and Representatives were chosen as recipients this year.
