Graves to Hold Public Forum on Future of KCI
Opportunity for public to express opinions on proposed changes to Kansas City's airport
KANSAS CITY, MO – U.S. Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) is holding a Public Forum to hear directly from constituents regarding proposed changes to Kansas City International Airport (KCI). The event is scheduled to take place on Monday, August 19th at 4:00 p.m. at the Riverside City Hall. Members of the public are invited to attend and express their opinions and concerns directly to Congressman Graves and his staff. Those interested in participating are requested to RSVP to Buffy Smith at (816) 792-3976.
"We are lucky to have such a safe and convenient airport located in Missouri's Sixth Congressional district," said Congressman Graves. "While I recognize that there are challenges to the airport's configuration and issues that need to be addressed, I feel that there are better ways to address these concerns than by constructing a new, and expensive, single terminal. Monday's forum will allow the public to weigh in with their thoughts, and to begin a dialogue on the future of their airport."
Graves, who supports maintaining the current configuration of KCI, expressed his opinion earlier this year in the Kansas City Star. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires airports to file a new master plan every 10 years, and as the result of a provision Congressman Graves passed last year as part of the FAA reauthorization bill, they must take customer convenience into account when planning for the future.
