Graves Greets World War II Veterans on Patriot Day

Welcomes Honor Flight group from Kansas City to nation's capital

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, U.S. Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) welcomed a group of over 20 World War II veterans to our nation's capital. The veterans, in town as part of the Honor Flight Network of Kansas City, left KCI in the morning and will tour the sights in Washington, D.C. for the day, before returning home this evening. They are residents of the greater Kansas City area from both Missouri and Kansas.

"It is an honor and a privilege to welcome these American heroes to our nation's capital, particularly on such a meaningful day in our nation's history," said Graves, who met with the group at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall. "Their stories inspire and unite our country, and remind us of the meaning of personal sacrifice. We are all indebted to them and the rest of the Greatest Generation for their service to America, and their commitment to making the world a safer place. I tremendously enjoy the opportunity to visit with our nation's veterans, and thank the Honor Flight Network of Kansas City for making today's event possible."
