Chairman Graves Welcomes Missouri Farm Bureau President Garrett Hawkins to Testify on WOTUS

February 10, 2023

Washington, D.C. –Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves welcomed Missouri Farm Bureau President Garrett Hawkins to testify before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Water Resources Subcommittee on the Biden Administration’s proposed Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule and the impact this executive overreach would have on Missouri farm families.

“President Hawkins has been working with farmers and ranchers from all across the country—on regulatory issues like WOTUS for almost 20 years,” Graves said. “He’s served Missouri farmers for decades—first directing national legislative efforts at Missouri Farm Bureau and more recently as Deputy Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture. I’m thankful for Garrett making the trip out here to speak up for Missouri farm families and being a strong voice for reasonable clean water regulations that actually work.”

“Farmers and ranchers are frustrated that our concerns were not recognized in the Biden Administration’s final WOTUS rule,” President Hawkins said. “This rule threatens to impede farmers’ and ranchers’ ability to provide safe, affordable, and abundant food, fuel, and fiber to the citizens of this nation and the world. Their concerns are not hyperbole, nor are they isolated occurrences.”
