Boonville —

A Boonville High School senior's pencil drawing of her father's intertwined hands framing a flock of birds, has made it to the Capitol Hill where it will be showcased for a year.

Hannah Kelley got a call from Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.) Thursday morning telling her that her drawing titled ‘Story Weaver' has won this year's Congressional Art Competition, a countrywide high school visual arts contest, from his district.

The artwork will hang in the Capitol's Cannon Tunnel along with nearly 400 others from across the country.

One painting from each congressional district in the country was selected for the award. Kelley's painting is one of the eight winning entries from Missouri that will be in the limelight in Washington, D.C.

"She is talented and creative," said Helen Sanders, Kelley's art teacher at the high school. "I think she will really do something in art as a career."
