No Funds for Iranian Terrorism
Straight Talk with Sam
For decades, Iran has been a threat to peace and freedom around the globe. The radical Islamic regime in Tehran has continually trained, directed, and armed terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah that are responsible for the senseless slaughter of thousands of innocent civilians. Their support has directly fueled the recent Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel.
Just a few short months ago, President Biden decided to waive sanctions that were in place on Iran in exchange for the release of five American hostages. This foreign policy blunder allowed $6 billion in Iranian funds in South Korean banks to be transferred to banks in Qatar. While the Administration claims these funds will only used for humanitarian purposes, anyone with common sense and a clear-eyed view of history knows that’s not how Iran operates.
The Iranian regime is highly skilled in sanctions evasion. They will do everything they can to hide the true use of these funds. Greater access to any funds allows them to reallocate their own money. That offset allows them to support even more terrorism in Israel and around the world.
The United States cannot stand by and allow billions of dollars to go to Iran while they continue to back heinous attacks against our allies and support terrorist groups that call for “Death to America.” That’s why I was proud to support the No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act. The legislation re-freezes the funds released to Iran involved in Biden’s August 2023 hostage deal and ensures the $6 billion dollars remains permanently off limits to the radical Iranian regime.
We must fully support our strongest ally in the Middle East. There's no middle ground here and no room for interpretation. America stands with Israel and our actions must speak louder than our words. The House made that clear again this week.
Sincerely,
Sam Graves
