Keeping in Touch

E-Newsletters

It's a privilege to represent the people of Missouri's 6th District in Congress. From Kansas City to Bethany across to Kirksville and Bowling Green, I enjoy the honor of serving the residents of 36 counties in North Missouri. Part of my job is to keep people up-to-date as to what's happening in Washington. One resource I use is these weekly "Straight Talk with Sam" updates, to highlight a topic of interest or explain legislation I'm working on.

Another way is through occasional Tele-Town Halls. These give me a chance to conduct a "town hall" style discussion by phone, so that I can still reach out to you while I'm in Washington. I held one this past week, and I had an engaging and informative dialogue with hundreds of North Missourians on a range of topics affecting their lives, from Obamacare to job creation to illegal immigration. It's a chance for me to hear directly from you as you ask me questions about the key issues of the day. If you would like to be informed of future Tele-Town Halls, please let my office know.

Additionally, it is my distinct honor to have the opportunity to nominate talented students to military academies each year. These academies offer a unique and rewarding experience, and I encourage those interested in applying to the U.S. Military, Naval, Merchant Marine, or Air Force Academies to contact my Kansas City office at 816-792-3976 for further information. Students must be at least 17 years of age and no more than 23 as of July 1, 2014.
