Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Straight Talk with Sam
Great American inventor and businessman Thomas Edison once said, "Show me a thoroughly satisfied man, and I will show you a failure." While the economy has made modest gains, in spite of the job-killing policies of this administration, I don't believe we can be satisfied with where we are.
Unemployment remains unacceptably high and the national debt is over $18 trillion. This is not what recovery looks like.
In 2008, we were promised a hope-filled future of economic growth based on an $800 billion stimulus plan full of shovel-ready jobs. Those of us who understand that government doesn't create jobs, small businesses do, know that the policies of the last six years simply aren't working.
The administration's current course of increasing taxes, spending trillions on big government programs, and saddling small businesses and farmers with more and more regulations is the wrong prescription for what ails our economy.
While government does not create jobs, it does have a role to play. Every policy should be evaluated with one question in mind: will it help create jobs?
I have worked with my colleagues in the House this year to aid small businesses and get employers hiring again. We have passed 46 jobs bills that cut taxes, remove burdensome regulations, repeal Obamacare, and reduce our dependence on foreign energy by taking advantage of our domestic resources here at home. I will not be satisfied until every American that wants a job, can find one.
Sincerely,

Sam Graves
