Health Care and the Economy

Plato once said, "People are like dirt. They can either nourish you and help you grow as a person or they can stunt your growth and make you wilt and die." It's much the same with government. When it comes to the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the health care law, its negative impact on jobs and the economy is becoming clear.

Simply stated, this law is stunting job growth and causing our once blooming economy to wilt more and more each day. According to studies done by the Heritage Foundation, $52 billion in new taxes will be strapped to the backs of employers by mandating they provide health insurance. Small business owners will face the huge financial risk of having to pay more in taxes than they would gain in return from profit.

Unemployment remains at a staggering 8.2%, making the job search difficult. But when the health care law takes effect, finding employment will only get harder. We can expect to see 670,000 jobs lost from this law, many of those in the health care industry. And we haven't even touched on the massive increase this will have on our national debt.

I want to see a different America - an America full of freedom, ingenuity, and the greatest prosperity in the world. In the coming weeks and months, voters across this nation will make choices as to what kind of America they want to see.

###

Sincerely,
