Counting Our Blessings
As you read this, hopefully you have already selected your bird, stocked up on sweet potatoes and stuffing and have a pumpkin pie cooling. Thanksgiving can easily become another holiday full of to-do lists, but we must take time to remember that we are blessed. There is no doubt that we have much to be thankful for.
We are blessed to live in a society of heroes. We have men and women who are willing to travel halfway around the world to fight terror so that we can be safe. In this holiday season, we should remind them that we are proud of their service to our country.
We have men and women here at home who run into burning buildings, even when everyone else is running out. We are blessed with men and women who patrol our streets in the dead of night and who respond to emergencies no matter the time.
We are blessed to live in a country that is more prosperous than any other this world has ever known. Even though it's not perfect, we live in the greatest country on Earth. A country where a dream, hard work and a little common sense can take you anywhere you want to go.
While each family has its own unique gifts to be thankful for, Americans can be thankful that they still live in the land of the free and home of the brave.
