On March 29, 1973, the last US combat troops left Vietnam, ending 8 years of direct intervention in the war and decades of American involvement in the conflict. There’s some good news for all Missourians this week: COVID-19 is on the retreat. Missouri now ranks second lowest amongst all fifty states in average daily case rate over the last 7 days according to the Centers for Disease Control.

That’s good news for a couple of reasons. For one, it means fewer Missourians are getting sick, fewer are going to the hospital, and fewer are needing intensive care. It’s been a rough week across North Missouri with bitter cold, snowstorms, and slick roads causing havoc. Many students have been at home for several days and temporary rolling blackouts and propane issues have made a difficult week even more challenging. We’re used to winter weather, but this has been tough.
